Edison Design System — Foundational Platform for GE HealthCare’s Enterprise UX Transformation

After four prior systems failed to scale, the Edison Design System became GE HealthCare’s first enterprise‑wide solution to unify UX across 130+ products. It laid the foundation for consistent, intuitive, brand‑aligned healthcare experiences and paved the way for future platforms like Ethos. The program established a charter and governance, set initial component standards and specifications, and partnered closely with engineering on contribution workflows and versioning. Edison’s scale created a shared design language across the portfolio — accelerating delivery and raising the quality floor for imaging, AI, and web experiences.
