The First Foundation
Auditing a fragmented landscape of 960 legacy applications to secure the first wave of consistency.
The Audit
960 Products
Identified across the global enterprise.
The Execution
130 Onboarded
Secured adoption for critical core apps.
The Complexity
Siloed SBUs
Aligned Strategic Business Units (Imaging, Ultrasound, Patient Monitoring).
The Result
Unified Code
Established the enterprise's first framework-agnostic code foundation.
The Challenge
Order from Chaos

From 960 disparate applications to a unified design language for the core portfolio.
The scale of our fragmentation was invisible until we audited the enterprise: 960 distinct applications, mostly unmanaged. It was the Wild West.
With Edison, we focused on stabilization. We successfully corralled 130 critical revenue-drivers under a single design language. This was a massive feat of governance. While the long tail remained, Edison proved that a global organization could move as one. It laid the critical groundwork for the platform strategy that would become Ethos.
The Outcome
Stabilizing the Portfolio
Edison was the necessary first step in our digital transformation. By unifying the top 130 applications, we eliminated design debt across our most critical revenue streams.
This project did not just ship a library. It proved that a centralized governance model could work at GE HealthCare scale. It established the cultural and technical foundation that paved the way for the next evolution of our platform strategy.
